Leona spies on media, "security" cams and rubberneckers!
Made a new friend today
So I was walking out of Carnegie Centre when I saw a pair of cops busting a dealer on the corner. The dealer's pill bottles were all lined up in a colourful row on the roof of the unmarked cop car, so of course I pulled out my camera to try and capture that little detail ... but this guy came up to me, not in a scary way either, and said "Don't take pictures, it violates that guy's civil rights!" I hadn't thought of that ... and me with all my opinionation about invasive cameras in the DTES! I love to turn my camera on the powerful as they exploit their power on the streets ... but here was a guy bent over the hood of a car, and he'd be in the pic too! So I shut off my camera and said, "Okay, you're right, I agree with you."
A couple minutes later, this same guy came up to me as I was walking home and said, "I misjudged you; I thought you were happy to see the guy get beat down; sorry to come down so hard." I said "No problem, thanks for speaking up." He introduced himself and shook my hand ... scars, burns ... peering into my open purse as I tucked away my camera ... then he said, "Do you have a boyfriend?"
Heheh.
I said "You're not my type." He said, "What is your type?" I said, "Someone who doesn't use street drugs." He said, "You're prejudiced against people who smoke dope?" I said "No, I just want to keep the things I own."
"Well alright," says he, "you can take my picture if you like!"
(Hope he doesn't see this post.)

Turns out she was the girl in the photo. I withdrew the photo and then had a guy offer me a model release form which he carries around with him, which I now carry around in case I have a keeper I want to sell later. I tracked her down and sent her the photo and to cut the long story short, she then gave me permission to sell the photo which she agreed was awesome.
it's always good to be schooled. funny he tried to pick you up too...haha!
Csad - yeah, that's how I like it!
Knits - I guess he doesn't often have friendly conversations with women who bathe ;D
Bluesbro - model release form is the way to go ... but they make me feel all inhibited!
